Roberta Flack is an American singer and the only solo artist to win the Grammy Award for Record of the Year for two years back to back. She discovered her love for music at a very tender age since her mother was a choir singer.
At the age of fifteen, she enrolled at Howard University and graduated successfully. However, after her father’s death, she started to teach music instead of pursuing a career further. During this time, she began singing at different clubs, which helped her land into the industry. In 1972, Roberta married Steve Novosel, but six years later, the couple decided to part ways.
